Top 5 ways to style your home for summer

With the warmer months now upon us, we can look to add a touch of summer into our homes. We've curated our ultimate guide to elevating your space this summer.

Summer is a time to enjoy the warm sunshine and that wonderful smell of freshly cut grass. The summer months give us the chance to enjoy the outdoors more too, whether that's having a BBQ with family and friends or getting out into nature and soaking up all it's beauty. It's also a time to enjoy being at home, making the most of the bright natural light flooding through the windows well into the evenings and letting the fresh air through the house.

Creating those summer feelings within your home can be easy to achieve, so here's our top 5 ways to style your home ready for summer.

1. Style summer inspired accessories around your home

Styling seasonal decorative accessories and ornaments is a really easy way to reflect the current season in your home. When selecting accessories, choose items you are drawn to that spark feelings of nostalgia or make you instantly think of the summer. Ornaments such as faux coral or sea snails make us think about the beautiful clear blue sea from our favourite holiday destination and evoke happy summertime memories.

2. Add a pop of colour

Summertime is when nature shows off all it's wonderful colours. Everything from the bright green leaves on the trees, the gorgeous lilac lavender and the stunning pink peonies. The one colour that is associated with summer the most though is yellow. Introducing hints of yellow around your home evokes feelings of happiness and positivity. A small lemon tree or these gorgeous lemon stems are perfect for adding that pop of colour in your home, giving the space a Mediterranean feel.

3. Display seasonal fruit & vegetables

Displaying fruit and vegetables is a good way to introduce colour and texture into your kitchen. They can either be real or opt for faux if you would like a more permanent display. Our favourite pick is these gorgeous faux figs which look so realistic in stunning tones of deep purple and green. Style them in a beautiful decorative fruit bowl for maximum impact. Artichokes are another good decorative vegetable to show, either in their natural green colour or stone artichokes bring a gorgeous texture to a space.

4. Style seasonal faux stems

There are so many beautiful flowers that bloom during the summer season and styling these around your home can bring a sense of nature to a space. Peonies, roses and hydrangeas are some of the most popular summertime flowers, all available in many different colours to complement your home. If it's greenery you're after, simply styling a couple of olive branches in a rustic vase will give an exotic Mediterranean feel to a space. The main benefit of investing in faux flowers is that they last for a long time.

5. Introduce summer textures & patterns

Texture and pattern is such an important element of consideration when styling a room as it adds visual interest, depth and character into a space. There are some lovely textures you can introduce to your home during the summer such as seagrass basket trays with their beautiful light woven texture. Swapping out any heavier winter throws for more lightweight blankets to use during the cooler summer evenings is another way of introducing texture and pattern. Floral prints are also a perfect for summer styling as they bring a freshness and sense of nature to a room. If you are new to patterns and not sure where to start, these Melun bottles and planters are a great way to introduce a delicate pattern to give a chic feel to your space.
