1. Who We Are
Nuco Home Limited operates www.nucohome.com, including all related content, features, tools, products and services (the "Services"). We are registered in England and Wales under company number 14366441 and our registered address is Unit 15 Carrock Road, Croft Business Park, Bromborough, Wirral, CH62 3RA.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, Nuco Home Limited is the data controller of your personal information. Our store is powered by Shopify, which acts as both a processor on our behalf and, for certain enhanced features, a controller in its own right, as explained in Section 7.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and share your personal information when you visit our website, make a purchase, or communicate with us. Please read it carefully. If you have any questions, contact us at info@nucohome.com.
2. The Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details such as your name, billing and delivery address, phone number and email address.
- Order and payment information including the products you buy, return or exchange, your transaction history, payment method and payment confirmation. Card payments are processed securely by our payment providers and we never see or store your full card details.
- Account information such as your email address, order history, saved addresses and preferences if you create an account.
- Communications including the contents of emails, messages and reviews you send us.
- Device and usage information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and how you navigate and interact with our website, gathered through cookies and similar technologies.
We collect this information directly from you, automatically through your use of the website, and from our service providers when they process information on our behalf.
3. How We Use Your Information and Our Lawful Bases
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for everything we do with your personal information. Here is what we do and the basis we rely on:
- To process and fulfil your orders, including taking payment, arranging delivery, and handling returns, exchanges and refunds. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To manage your account and provide customer service, including responding to your enquiries and keeping you updated about your orders. Lawful basis: performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in providing good customer service.
- To send you marketing emails about new products, offers and home styling inspiration. Lawful basis: your consent, or, where you are an existing customer and we are telling you about similar products, our legitimate interest under the soft opt in rules. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and opting out never affects your orders or service emails.
- To advertise our products online, including showing you relevant ads on platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) based on your activity on our website. This involves sharing limited information, such as hashed email addresses and website activity, with Meta through tools including the Meta pixel and Conversions API, which may operate through server side tracking. Lawful basis: your consent, given through our cookie banner.
- To understand how our website is used and improve it, using analytics tools including Google Analytics and Shopify's own analytics. Lawful basis: your consent for analytics cookies, and our legitimate interest in improving the Services.
- To prevent fraud and keep the Services secure, including authenticating accounts and detecting suspicious activity. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our business and customers, and compliance with legal obligations.
- To invite and display customer reviews through our reviews platform. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in collecting genuine feedback about our products and service.
- To comply with the law, such as keeping records for tax purposes and responding to valid legal requests. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We never sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to run our business, with:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders, payments and customer data on our behalf.
- Payment providers, who process your payment securely. If you choose a Buy Now Pay Later option at checkout, that provider acts as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, which you should review before using it.
- Delivery partners, who receive your name, address and contact details so they can deliver your order and send you tracking updates.
- Email and marketing platforms, including the platform that manages our mailing list and sends our emails, and Meta, which receives limited information as described above to deliver and measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
- Analytics providers, such as Google Analytics.
- Our reviews platform, which may contact you after a purchase to invite a review of your order.
- Server side tracking infrastructure used to send website events to our marketing platforms reliably and securely.
- Professional advisers and authorities where required, such as accountants, insurers, or law enforcement responding to valid legal process, and a buyer or successor in the event of a business sale or restructure.
All service providers acting on our behalf are bound by contracts requiring them to protect your information and use it only on our instructions.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the website work, remember your basket and preferences, measure how the site is used, and deliver and measure advertising.
Essential cookies are always on, as the site cannot function without them. Analytics and advertising cookies, including those used by Google Analytics and Meta, are only set with your consent, which you can give or refuse through our cookie banner and change at any time through the cookie settings link on our website. For more detail on the cookies we use, see our [Cookie Policy / cookie settings — link or remove if covered by your banner tool].
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it. Order and transaction records are kept for six years after the tax year they relate to, as required by UK tax law. Account information is kept while your account is active. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or after a prolonged period of inactivity. We then delete or anonymise your information securely.
7. Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify, as well as third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside, in order to provide and improve the Services.
In addition, we use certain Shopify enhanced features that incorporate data obtained from your interactions with our store, with other merchants, and with Shopify. For these features, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including responding to requests to exercise your rights over that processing. To learn more about how Shopify uses personal information, visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy, where you can also exercise rights relating to data processed by Shopify.
8. International Transfers
Some of our service providers, including Shopify and our marketing, advertising and analytics platforms, may process your information outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or transfers to countries the UK has determined provide adequate protection.
9. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to our processing, including the absolute right to object to direct marketing at any time.
- Portability, receiving a copy of information you provided to us in a usable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting processing that happened before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@nucohome.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within one month. These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply in some cases, but we will always explain our reasoning. We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
10. Children
Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We take the security of your information seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, including secure payment processing and encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information through unsecured channels.
12. Complaints
If you have any concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at info@nucohome.com and we will do our best to resolve them. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, tools, or legal requirements. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top. We will notify you of any significant changes as required by law.
